Luxurious Vintage 4-Prong Oval Cut Fire Opal Engagement Ring

I never pictured myself wearing a traditional clear center stone. This opal has so much personality, and the smaller stones around it provide just enough sparkle. It looks delicate, feminine and very special on my hand.

I chose this ring because my fiance wanted something colorful and vintage-inspired. The opal changes depending on the light, so it never looks exactly the same twice. She said it feels much more personal than a conventional engagement ring.

I wanted an engagement ring with an antique feel but didn't want something too heavy or ornate. The oval opal and detailed halo are a lovely balance. I chose yellow gold, and it brings out the warmer colors in the stone.

The color play isn't equally strong in every type of lighting. Indoors, the stone can look mostly creamy white, but outside it becomes much more colorful. Once I understood that this is part of the opal's character, I appreciated it even more.

The ring is gorgeous and the four-prong setting shows off the stone nicely. Because opal is more delicate than some other gemstones, I remove it for cleaning, exercising and housework. For normal wear, it has been comfortable and lovely.

The rose-gold version works beautifully with the warm flashes in the opal. I was worried the detailed setting might look too busy, but in person the center stone still gets all the attention. It's elegant with just the right amount of sparkle.

The opal looks soft and milky indoors, but near a window I can see little flashes of orange, green and blue. The surrounding stones catch the light beautifully without overpowering the center. It feels romantic and genuinely different.
